Meet Kajsa (Pronounced: kä-zhä)
AKC & UKC Reg. Female Black & Tan German Shepherd, DOB: 09/01/05
Kajsa was training in Sheep Herding (March 2008) and we had planned to breed her once she earned herself a herding title, however when we took her for her OFA x-rays, we found she has an extremely mis-shapen pelvis and hip. It is not clear wether this condition is genetic or was caused at birth - so she will no longer be training or competing in herding. We may eventually get another Shepherd from a very reputable breeder, but it won't be for quite some time. Kajsa is an absolutely wonderful dog with quirks that baffle even me! LOL

I'm all Ears, Ma!

Now meet Cobalt.
Cobalt came to us at an extremely young age. At approx. 3 ½ weeks of age, he was left abandoned on a horse trail behind a local stable. He was SO small at 3.5lbs; his eyes were the pale blue-grey color of newborn puppies and he was not able to lap from a saucer. Since the stable managers were unable to find another permanent and suitable home for him, and since we have previous experience raising Pit Bulls, we eagerly took him in. Cobalt is now currently 10 weeks old and weighs in at 18lbs. He is a remarkable example for his breed, not only in conformation but in temperment and intellegence. He has been easy to train and quick to learn... I only hope these traits remain when he hits his adolescence! LOL

What's for Dinner?
For the last 6 ½ years, our dogs have been fed a Biologically Appropriate Raw Food Diet (BARF). Basically, they eat all types of Raw Meat, Raw Meaty Bones, Organs, and as much whole prey that I can afford. Since switching from kibble, I have noticed a great improvement in the overall health of ALL our dogs...

Kita (Rotti/Akita Mix 8/1996-3/2010) was switched to the raw diet at the ripe age of 9yrs. Her age was really catching up with her and it was obvious her time with us was very limited. Upon switching to the raw diet, she went from an overweight 105-110 pounds to a healthy, muscular 85 pounds. She stopped licking & chewing at the bottoms of her feet and her coat was healthy and shiny with no more flakes or dry, itchy skin. She also no longer had "dog" breath and had beautiful, clean, WHITE teeth. Her cronic ear infections had also stopped. I strongly feel that switching her diet was the sole reason we were able to have her with us for 5 more years.

Kajsa on the other hand, was switched to RAW immediately when we brought her home at 7½ weeks of age. She has developed BEAUTIFULLY! She grew at an appropriate rate and at 5 months of age had shed all her baby teeth and replaced them with beautiful healthy, strong, GLEAMING WHITE teeth. She is now 5 yrs old and we are very pleased with Kajsa's health, temperment, and overall beauty.

Cobalt also went from formula to RAW when we began the weaning process at 5 weeks of age. He too is growing at an appropriate rate and has received a fabulous bill of health from the vet at his last check up.
